Spy VS Spy Easter eggs.

Below is a list of some of the features you may or may not have noticed in my latest map for Unreal Tournament Spy VS Spy.

Spies. Masked 2D sheet TimedTriggered movers. I wanted a sense that the map is crawling with spies, in every window, and peeking around every corner.

(Right click or "View Image" to enlarge)
Headquarters (safe house). Noted by their colored chess piece, a prominent symbol used in the BBC TV series “The Prisoner”. Where spies are sent to live out their "mandatory" retirement. You must be the correct Team Color to enter.
Surveillance Cameras (trained on the border crossing). What would a spy world be without cameras? These are just regular teleporters shrunk down to the size of a TV monitor. You can still jump through them if you want.
Sodium Pentothal. Also known as Truth Serum; used to interrogate "detainees" and obtain confessions. Yes apparently you can still buy this stuff. Great for bachelorette parties.
Polygraph Machine, also known as a lie detector test. Not 100% reliable and therefore are not admissible in a court of law. It was said that Aldrich Ames could routinely beat the polygraph machine.
Soviet short wave radio set. This is what Brad Pitt first learned to use in the movie “Spy Game”. Audio is a Soviet propaganda broadcast from the 50's.
Cyanide capsules. Self explanatory. Cyanide was used to commit suicide before the enemy could gain any information from captured spies.
Minox camera. Small micro-cameras perfect for photographing secret documents without stealing them so no one knows they are missing.
Blueprints for a Russian T34 tank. Contains a few things you may want to know if you are ever up against one of these things. Thickness of the plate armor, metal alloy, top speed, fuel capacity, targeting range, etc.
Blueprints for a Lockheed SR71 Blackbird spy plane.
I Spy decoder book. I think these were some kind of code book for kids during the cold war back in the 50's.
Phillips Audio recorder, used to secretly record clandestine conversations. If you shoot the Phillips recorder it will play the theme music “Mission Impossible”.
Phone Booths. (Dm Team versions only). A late addition. I wanted to have a phone booth that acted as an entrance to a secret underground tunnel connecting the two sides of the city together. Like in the TV show “Get Smart”.
Dial the telephone 3 times to activate the elevator.
Hall of Spies (poster gallery). Features movie posters that helped inspire the map. There is also a subtle shout-out to UT99.org and UnrealArchive.org.
Check Point Charlie, (CTF version only) the infamous check-point separating East and West Berlin. Today this is now a tourist attraction that sells coffee cups and tee shirts. I actually did not want to put this in the map because of its size, it just looks "dwarfed" compared to the surrounding buildings, but in paying respect to the city, this is in fact the actual photo and correct scale of the Check Point Charlie guard house.
Spy planes. If you go to Check Point Charlie and look straight up you should be able to see a squadron of U-2 spy planes flying overhead. Look for the occasional “Sputnik” on a slightly different trajectory.
Propaganda posters are real propaganda posters from the 40's and 50's. Color matched and reduced contrast to help blend into the environment.
Prisoner Exchange Station. For spy swaps and defectors. Sort of like the movie “Bridge of Spies”. I wanted something similar to the transfer stations from the TV series “Fringe”, and the movie “Tenet”. A fancy high tech apparatus used to transfer personnel from one side to the other. Enabled with the use of “TeamTriggers”. One member from each team must enter the chamber at the same time to activate the transfer.
This was a really fun stress free map to make due to it's simplicity, kitschy theme, props and gadgets. The idea being that players are confined to their own side of the wall. The only way to score points is by sniping from a window or roof top. You could even play this as a 1 on 1 map, like the movie “Enemy at the Gate”. An intense snipe-off requiring stealth, intuition and nerves of steel.

Thanks for playing my maps.

“Be seeing you”. [wink]
